The origin
In 2021, our founders were running a wholesale distribution business in Harare. They were using a combination of a South African ERP, a separate spreadsheet for ZIMRA reporting, and a third system for their POS — three systems that never talked to each other.
When ZIMRA introduced the FDMS fiscal device requirement, none of their software vendors had a plan. They were told to wait for an update that never came.
That was the moment Tradebook was conceived. Not as a technology project, but as an operational necessity. A platform that treats fiscal compliance not as an afterthought, but as a core design requirement.
Our mission
To build the operational infrastructure layer for African enterprise commerce — enabling any business, anywhere on the continent, to operate with the same precision, compliance, and efficiency as the world's most sophisticated enterprises.
We measure success not in software metrics but in operational outcomes: fewer stock discrepancies, cleaner audit trails, faster end-of-day closes, and zero ZIMRA compliance penalties for our customers.
How we got here
What we stand for
Four principles guide every product decision we make.
Compliance by design
Regulatory requirements are built into the architecture, not bolted on afterwards. When ZIMRA rules change, we update the engine.
Operational honesty
We don't sell features that don't work. Every module shipped is production-tested by real businesses in real African markets before release.
African context first
Multi-currency, cash-dominant economies, intermittent connectivity, local regulatory frameworks — these are first-class requirements, not edge cases.
Enterprise at every scale
A single-branch retailer deserves the same quality of infrastructure as a national distributor. Tradebook scales in both directions without compromise.
